A New Blog Carnival

Thank you to Cindy of the Go Workout Mom blog for hosting the 3rd Fitness For Moms Carnival featuring my article on Moderation as the key to weight loss and health.

There are a bunch of great articles, including information on acupuncture for acne, beauty through breathing (pranayama), and why diets don't work.

I support blog carnivals as they give all of us a chance to see other's work, visit some new blogs, and get some new visitors and readers. All good.

Enjoy!

Blog Carnivals Galore

My article Why We Just Keep Getting fatter is featured in a number of blog carnivals this week that all my readers should go check out because the other articles are great!

In case you are wondering, a blog carnival is a magazine hosted by a blog where they accept articles from other bloggers in various categories. They then link to all the articles and publish the links in a magazine-like format. If you blog then you should go look at Blogcarnival.com to see what carnivals in what categories are open and submit away!

Carnival of Healing #102

So, my post on Diet Directives has been featured on another blog carnival--the Carnival of Healing 102 on A-HaTV blog.

This week, A-ha! TV is participating in the Carnival of Healing for the first time and I am completely blown away by the number of submissions we received. Although the topics are diverse, all these sites have one thing in common: they allow readers to get massive info on spiritual growth, total healing of mind, body and soul, and other similar topics that spark the a-ha! moments of our existence in this realm. Blessings to the Carnival’s hard-working mistress of ceremonies Phylameana.

Before we start, I’ve got to send a big shout out to The Process of Being. They did an excellent job of hosting the Carnival last week and pulled together an eye-popping array of sites. Next week, look for more of the same from Mind Mart, a orange-n-soycream flavored site offering holistic and alternative products that promote and encourage “mind-body wellness.” They have a great post on the dangers of microwave popcorn which no one should miss.
This week our topics range from physical health, to finances, to mental being, and more, so I’ve arranged them in categories.

    Physical Heath and Well-being
  • Hueina Su lets it all hang out in a recount of a recent health scare and her personal journey to healing. How many of us can relate to getting so caught up in our busy lifestyles our bodies force us to slow down? Piggy-backing that, she offers life-saving tips designed to help us to revel in the “Fast Track to Calm: Tao of the Unhurried Way.” Many thanks for this wonderful blog dedicated to the millions who nurture everybody else before themselves. Acknowledging the rushed tendencies of persons of this ilk, of which I am one, we are reminded to pay attention to the breath. Can I get an amen?

  • We travel on to find more ways to deal with the rampant stress in our lifestystyles and culture. Check out the Centre for Emotional Well-Being where Nancy L. shares 7 strategies we can use everyday to relieve stress.

  • And just as we’re getting too serious, April over at Natural Health Remedies gives us a well-needed break in 5 Reasons You Need to Laugh More.

  • His blog may be dedicated to money health, but this week the Prince of Thrift shares his personal experience with a rare disease. The condition, Neurofibromatosis, is a condition of the nervous system and I appreciate the frank discussion. Healing energy is directed to the author who offers useful tips on financial fitness.

  • Shelley Fondren’s blog focuses on the benefits massage offers the body and mind, as well as nutrition and a little bit of travel. One of the Atlanta masseuse’s latest entries talks about the unfortunate risks of eating too much soy, something that resonated with me as for the past month my husband and I have been cutting down our family’s soy consumption.

  • SavvySkin.com exposes the ugly truth behind counter acne medication Accutane in “Dangerous Skincare. Hopefully no one reading this blog uses this stuff!

    Food and Nutrition
  • Much of our physical health relies on the food we put into our bodies. So pay heed as FitBuff.com presents Fast Food Calorie Counter: Nutrition Facts and Statistics which features a comprehensive list of nutrition facts and statistics from some of the most popular fastfood “restaurants.” Come on, admit it, even some of the most hardcore vegans buckle to the aroma of McDonald’s french fries. Don’t sleep!

  • American ex-patriot, Lynda Lippin, makes her home in the Turks & Caicos Islands where she teaches pilates and reiki. This week she also gives us the 411 on how to lose weight by systematically counting bites of food in her article “Eat Less & Lose More.”

  • Joanne Hay, Editor of Nourished Magazine, also known by her superhero moniker “The Nourisher” informs us on how food can be used as medicine to help heal Leaky Gut, among other things.

  • Socially conscious site, 21st Century Citizen, shares an informative post on steps you can take right now to eat locally grown food. Not only is eating locally grown produce good for the local economy, it usually introduces us to foods that are fresher and have less perservatives and chemicals.

Emotional and Mental Heath and Well-being
  • Fear plays a major role in many lives and this week’s submissions are no exception. Take a look at a this article
from Warren Wong, whose website, www.whatithinkabout.com, is dedicated to the personal development of intuitive people and chock full of Wong’s articles dealing with a variety of topics such as overcoming fear, manifesting abundance and even how to pull an all-nighter. Tupelo Kenyon also tackles fear, but this time it’s in the form of a bear! According to Mr. Kenyon:” Eye to eye with a bear while fishing alone is a good lesson in fear, awareness, panic and the law of attraction.” We can only imagine! Thankfully flowing underneath the heartpounding energy of this article is soothing music to help you relax.

  • Over at AddictionRecoveryBasics.com, Bill Urell offers a helping hand with his article/podcast 7 Great Tips To Help You In Early Drug Addiction Recovery, while Holly Ord’s personal blog, MenstrualPoetry.com, explores the addictive personalities had by women who feel they “need” plastic surgery.

  • Strengthening the gray matter is the focus of the Brain Fitness Program at Alvaro Fernandez’s sharpbrains.com which serves as a “window into the emerging field of science-based Brain Fitness, and its implications for Health & Wellness, Education, Leadership, and more.” Meanwhile, on his blog dedicated to “neural nets and AI,” Thomas Ott shares one his favorite books Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain. According to Ott: “It’s not a ‘how to’ book, rather its about current discoveries in field of neuroscience and discussions with the Dalai Lama about it.” We can dig it.

    Financial Heath and Well-being

  • Millionaire Mommy Next Door gives beneficial insight in “The Powerful (and Addictive) Nature of Giving.” Bringing actual practice to the table, the blog’s profits from affiliate revenue is actually given away as “micro-loans to sponsor small businesses operated by working, but impoverished, women in other countries. There is a record offered that allows readers to make sure it’s true as well as profiles of the people who have benefitted from the blog’s purpose - perpetual giving. What an awesome concept!

  • More women with money come on the scene as WealthOfWomen.com, Anna Ross discusses how bringing spiritual values to money can help heal the planet in “The Woman’s Way to (True) Wealth.”

    Spiritual Enlightenment and Inspiration
  • Ever wonder what Mother Teresa can teach a suburban housewife? Leticia Velasquez tells us in her touchingly inspired blog devoted to the virgin Mary. While A-ha! is a transdenominational site, I couldn’t resist the sweet power of this woman’s deeply personal stories.

  • Canadian psychotherapist Isabella Mori reflects on 15 years of mental health, counselling, psychotherapy and movement therapy in a post that echoes the law of manifestation as it pertains to the power of words and thoughts.

  • And finally…
  • if you’re wondering how to find enlightenment, martial arts site, MartialDevelopment.com offers the tantalizingly succint The Path to Enlightenment (in Six Words).

Whew… that’s a lot of enlightenment in one blog post! I hope that like me you’ve gleaned truth, inspiration, knowledge, humor, enlightenment and/or assistance in the sites spotlighted above. Thanks for visiting and don’t forget to visit the blogs highlighted above and mention you saw them at the Carnival of Healing.
