From Caribbean Net News... Many of our islands in the Turks & Caicos sit very close together, yet the water between them makes passage difficult. As of yesterday that is no longer the case for North and Middle Caicos. Tobby Rock in North Caicos now sits across a 130ft long permanent bridge to Pine Barrel Middle Caicos, allowing inhabitants’ access to both islands. "The Causeway’s design affords boaters the ability to traverse through its viaduct; allow a continuous water-flow; lower freight charges which contribute to higher costs of living and investing in Middle Caicos, relative to the rest of the TCI." The causeway will also allow the islands to share public services such as airports, schools, banking, and government run clinics.
